Jojo Monson is a multi-media artist, designer and performer located in New York City. She specializes in exotic costuming and graphic design, bridging the gap between corporation and creativity. Her work has been called remarkable, renaissance, referencing intuitive influences from her wide travels and unique job experience. Her portfolio includes everything from children's illustration for Colorado and California based companies, to digital and motion design for one of New York’s top advertising companies, to a 15th century Persian wedding gown in Cairo, to toy prototyping for the Denver Art Museum, to costume and concept design for the New York Circus Arts Academy. She is a skilled printmaker, leather worker, henna artist, teacher and storyteller. Her work is strikingly unique, versatile and accessible to all those with an eye for the wild.
I have worked with Jojo for four years and have to say that her work is nothing short of astounding. Her creativity and deep imagination really place her in the Alchemist category rather than an artist. She can transform not only normal, everyday mundane into the glorious and profound but also transform you, the witness to her work, into a deeper state of feeling. I have seen her weave a story, invoke a dragon with her hands and tame it, and give permission to the spectator to travel within themselves and bring out their own greatness.
Her work is beautiful, dramatic and deep. She refuses to compromise and it shows in her work. She confronts life and plays it for you in slow motion so you can soak it up and not miss a moment.
It doesn't matter whether it is a cartoon, a photograph, a story, a collage, a dragon mask, a belt, or her apartment, her work is necessary and must be shared with everyone. She is a well rounded, versatile Bard. She owns her power and shares her heart. What an amazing person! What amazing art!
